Excuse It
Year and a half ago, when the Cagoulard ("Hooded Men'') Fascist conspiracy was discovered, police searched Paris for arms deposits. At the home of Mme Baudoin they found a machine gun and other war like implements. She was tried and convicted for unlawful possession of arms.
When the excitement died down it was discovered to the Republic's embarrassment that Mme Baudoin's arms were her dead son's war trophies. In due time French gallantry corrected French justice.
The trophies were returned to Mother Baudoin in a pleasant ceremony at the City Hall at Versailles. Mayor Henriet expressed the Government's apologies (see cut).
