Pigeon Problem
Stubby, bald-headed Frank Hicks does not object to pigeons as such. But some pigeony habits do exasperate him -- for instance, the way pigeons have of rudely whitening with their droppings the stately limestone pillars of the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research in Pittsburgh, of which Mr. Hicks is building superintendent. Considering that the pigeons had at last pushed him too far, he set a trap on the roof. Next morning, to his astonishment, he found an old and indignant rooster in the trap. Attached to the rooster's nervous leg was a capsule, in it a note: "Manila has fallen. Dewey."
